“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” —Ronald Reagan

The founders of the institute truly embody this maxim. Dr. Francisco Q. Duque—former provincial governor and Department of Health secretary—had served as a father and leader in the public sector, while his co-founder and cherished wife, Madame Florencia T. Duque, stood as a mother to her family and president of the L-NU community, a leader-entrepreneur in the private sector. Indeed, the L-NU community answered to the calling of making leaders out of students for almost half a century as attested by our growing alumnus who are now serving as directors, presidents and managers in their respective fields both here and abroad.

The L-NU Dukes family strives to make the educational experience of its students’ fun. Lyceum is of the knowledge that involvement is needed from both sides; that is why L-NU promotes not only academic excellence, but also excellence in co-curricular activities and festivities. After all, true education cannot just be academic, it must be holistic just as leaders must be well-rounded in all skills and aspects.

Do not be discouraged if you think that you are not made to lead: everyone has the potential. Most leaders go about as silent supporters; not spearheading from the front, but serving as the unifying factor from the sidelines as they watch others grow. Remember, Dukes may be of royalty, yet they take charge as commanders in the battlefield, ready to lead and lay their lives for the sake of those under their protection.

Would you like to peer deeper into yourself, tap those hidden potentials, polish that raw gem, and shine your light out for others to see? Believe in yourself just as our graduates have and let L-NU help you in your journey to discover the leader in you!
